Baseball's Most Cursed Pitcher: Justin Verlander's Hilarious Winless Streak Continues

In the world of professional baseball, where dreams are made and crushed faster than a startup’s Series A funding, Justin Verlander is living proof that even legendary pitchers can have monumentally terrible seasons.

The 42-year-old Giants starter has somehow managed to become a statistical anomaly, entering the MLB All-Star break with zero wins despite having 65 strikeouts. That’s right - zero. Zilch. Nada.

A Pitching Nightmare

Verlander’s 2025 season reads like a comedy of errors. In 15 starts, he’s racked up an impressive 0-7 record that would make even the most stoic baseball fan cringe. During Wednesday’s game against the Philadelphia Phillies, where the Giants were crushed 13-0, Verlander actually pitched decently - allowing only four runs in six innings and striking out seven batters.

The Offensive Drought

The real problem? The Giants’ offense seems to have forgotten how to score runs. In eight of Verlander’s starts, the team has scored two or fewer runs, effectively sabotaging any chance of victory. Giants manager Bob Melvin summed it up perfectly: “It feels like every time we don’t score runs for him… he should certainly have a couple of wins and he doesn’t”.

A Legendary Struggle

To put Verlander’s struggle into perspective, he’s the first starting pitcher since 1933 to enter the All-Star break with over 65 strikeouts and zero wins. That’s not just bad - that’s historically terrible.

As the MLB All-Star break approaches, Verlander gets a chance to rest and reset. Here’s hoping the second half of the season brings more luck - and maybe, just maybe, a win.
