Porn, Politics, and Pixels: How Conservatives Are Trying to Cockblock the Internet

The battle for digital freedom is heating up, and this time, it’s taking place in the most unexpected arena - the porn industry.

As conservative lawmakers continue their crusade against online adult content, Pornhub is fighting back with sass, style, and some seriously provocative strategies. Recent legislative attempts are targeting porn websites with age verification laws that could effectively ban adult content across multiple states.

The War on Porn Heats Up

Louisiana kicked off this legislative nightmare in 2022, passing an age verification law that requires porn sites to verify users are 18 or older. Since then, around 20 states have followed suit, causing Pornhub to pull out of approximately 17 states faster than… well, you get the idea.

Behind the Scenes at the Pornhub Awards

The annual Pornhub Awards became an unexpected battleground for discussing these censorship efforts. Performers dressed in wild cowboy-inspired outfits, creating a satirical backdrop that seemed to subtly mock conservative attempts to regulate sexual content. One performer even joked about immigrants being “good” in response to winning an award - proving that humor remains a powerful weapon against restrictive ideologies.

The Bigger Picture

This isn’t just about porn - it’s about broader cultural control. The push for age verification and potential porn bans reflects a larger movement towards reinstating “traditional” Christian values, potentially threatening personal freedoms and digital expression. As one industry insider noted, these restrictions might just drive people towards less regulated and potentially more dangerous online spaces.

Stay tuned, Bay Area - the fight for digital freedom is just getting started.
