When authoritarianism tries to crash the party, San Francisco and Oakland said “not today, Donald!”

Thousands of Bay Area residents transformed city streets into a vibrant rebellion against President Trump’s regime on a crisp October Saturday, proving that peaceful protest can be both powerful and fabulous. From Market Street to Lake Merritt, demonstrators wielded witty signs and donned outrageous costumes - because why be boring when you’re fighting for democracy?

Costume Revolution

Inflatable dinosaurs, unicorns, and even a nude protester with “Trump” scrawled across his backside became unexpected symbols of resistance. “Strategic frivolity” was the name of the game, with protesters like Rachael Grail emphasizing that joy and kindness are radical acts of defiance.

Voices of Resistance

Local leaders like Rep. Lateefah Simon pulled no punches, declaring we’re living in the “midnight of our democracy”. Oakland Mayor Barbara Lee reminded everyone: “We are the patriots, not the ones waving flags and tearing down democracy”.

United We Stand

From San Francisco to Alameda, the message was crystal clear: “No Kings, Only People”. Protesters weren’t just marching; they were sending a thunderous message that authoritarianism has no place in their beloved Bay Area.
