The 2025 ESPYs just got a whole lot spicier with comedian Shane Gillis taking center stage and dropping some seriously controversial comedy bombs. Known for his no-holds-barred humor, Gillis didn’t disappoint, serving up a monologue that left audiences both laughing and cringing.

Trump Takes Center Stage

Gillis wasted no time diving into political comedy, targeting former President Donald Trump with razor-sharp jokes. One particularly bold quip involved Yankees star Juan Soto and NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, with Gillis joking that Joe Rogan wanted him to “capture” Silver because he thinks he’s an alien, while Trump wanted to do the same with Soto.

White House Warfare

Taking aim at the January 6 insurrection, Gillis didn’t hold back. He cracked about Trump’s alleged plans to stage a UFC fight on the White House lawn, quipping, “The last time he staged a fight in D.C., Mike Pence almost died”. The comedian’s dark humor perfectly captured the absurdity of recent political events.

Epstein Files: The Joke That Wasn’t

In a meta-comedic moment, Gillis addressed the Epstein files with a sly reference, suggesting that the joke “probably deleted itself” - a subtle nod to the controversial and mysterious nature of the documents.

While the monologue sparked both laughter and controversy, it’s clear that Gillis continues to push boundaries and challenge audiences with his unfiltered comedic style.
