San Jose's Epic Sports Takeover: The 2026 Party You Can't Miss

It’s not everyday a student gets to fly over his or her high school. Earlier today, I had the opportunity to do so. I took full advantage of this rare moment to snap a couple photos. I was more than happy with the results, and my school was even happier after I sent a few of them their way :) Proud to call this place my high school.

Get ready for a sports extravaganza that’ll make Silicon Valley look like the coolest kid on the block. San Jose is about to transform from tech hub to sports central in 2026, hosting everything from Super Bowl 60 to the World Cup. Mayor Matt Mahan isn’t just talking big; he’s promising a half-million visitors will descend on the city for what might be the most epic sporting year ever.\n\n### Party Central\n\nUnlike the 2016 Super Bowl where San Jose only scored 12% of economic benefits, city leaders are determined to maximize every touchdown and goal this time. We’re talking over 100 watch parties, 13 concerts with national headliners, and after-dark light shows that’ll make your Instagram followers seriously jealous.\n\n### Beyond Downtown\n\nWhile the focus is currently on downtown, city council members are pushing to spread the love to other neighborhoods. Councilmember David Cohen wants to ensure small businesses near Levi’s Stadium also get a piece of the action. Pro tip: keep an eye out for community events popping up across the city.\n\n### Global Spotlight\n\nWith teams flying into San Jose Mineta International Airport and practicing at local venues, the city is positioning itself as the ultimate sports destination. As Zaileen Janmohamed from the Bay Area Host Committee put it, San Jose is ready to create “unforgettable experiences” that’ll have the world talking.
