Oh No He Didn't: MC Hammer's Luxury Ride Lands Him in Legal Hot Water

MC Hammer, and Batman

Bay Area rap legend MC Hammer might be facing some serious financial drama that’s definitely not “2 Legit to Quit”. The Oakland-born performer is now battling a lawsuit from Chase Bank over a $115,000 Land Rover he purchased in 2023 and apparently forgot to keep paying for.

From Bankruptcy to Bluegrass

Hammer, who’s impressively rehabilitated his public image since his 1996 financial meltdown, has been a beloved Bay Area personality. Known for kicking off Hardly Strictly Bluegrass and becoming something of a local socialite, he’s even transformed into an ordained minister in recent years.

The Vehicle Vendetta

Now, the bank claims Hammer is approximately $76,000 behind on car payments, having stopped regular monthly payments in May 2024. What makes this legal battle truly hilarious is that his actual business is named “U Can’t Touch This LLC” - and he’s legally listed as “MC Hammer” in the documents.

Hammer Time… In Court

Chase Bank is not playing around, demanding possession of the vehicle and emphasizing the “unpaid provincial balance of $76,732.79”. A Google Street View even captured six vehicles in his Tracy driveway, including the potentially soon-to-be-repossessed Land Rover. Looks like Hammer might need to “pray” his way out of this one!
