Gen Z's Media Maven: How One Teenage Journalist is Rewriting the News Game

@photoconic_love is my new Instagram feed. @iamsherise.photography is my older feed when I started out. It is rusty but I'd love to have you on either or both! :) If you want to request any photos from there to be uploaded here for commercial use, I'd be happy to do that!

In the bustling world of digital media, a 16-year-old powerhouse from Walnut Creek is breaking barriers and serving up news that actually speaks to her generation.

Anya Gupta isn’t your average high school student. While most teens are scrolling TikTok, she’s running Key Future News (KFN), a youth-focused media nonprofit that’s turning complex topics into digestible content for Gen Z. Juggling a 4.0 GPA and dual enrollment at Diablo Valley College, Gupta is proving that teenagers aren’t just consumers of news, they’re creators.

A Vision Beyond Headlines

Gupta’s mission with KFN is crystal clear: make news accessible and relevant. “I decided to name the channel Key Future News because it’s the ‘key to your future,’” she explains. Her YouTube channel, boasting nearly 200 videos, covers everything from tech trends to career predictions, giving young viewers a roadmap for understanding our rapidly changing world.

Breaking Barriers, Building Platforms

Beyond her media work, Gupta is also serving on the Contra Costa Behavioral Health Board, demonstrating that her ambitions extend far beyond content creation. Her ultimate goal? Building an informed and empowered community of young people who are ready to shape tomorrow.

With her sights set on Berkeley’s Haas School of Business, Gupta is living proof that age is just a number when it comes to making meaningful impact. Watch out, world, Gen Z is here, and they’re not just taking notes, they’re writing the headlines.
