Buckle up, Bay Area, because California’s roads are turning into a high-stakes game of vehicular roulette. 🚗💥

Imagine getting multiple DUIs, causing fatal accidents, and still cruising around with a perfectly valid driver’s license. Sounds impossible, right? Wrong. The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has been playing a dangerous game of automotive Russian roulette, consistently allowing drivers with horrifying track records to keep their licenses and continue terrorizing our highways.

A System Designed to Fail

The DMV’s point system is so lenient, it’s practically a joke. Running a red light? Zero points. Killing someone in a vehicular manslaughter incident? A mere two points. This bureaucratic nonsense means repeat offenders can rack up tickets and fatal accidents without losing their driving privileges.

Real Lives, Real Consequences

Take Joshua Daugherty, who killed two young women in separate incidents and still managed to get his license reissued. Or Matthew Moen, who drove drunk multiple times and continued to have a valid license even after causing fatal crashes. These aren’t isolated incidents - they’re a systemic failure that’s costing innocent lives.

A Call for Accountability

Experts like Leah Shahum from Vision Zero Network put it bluntly: “We don’t all have the right to drive. We have the responsibility to drive safely and ensure we don’t hurt others”. The DMV’s current approach is less about safety and more about maintaining a broken status quo.

Until California seriously reforms its driver licensing system, our roads remain a dangerous playground for reckless drivers. Stay alert, stay safe, and maybe invest in a really good dashcam. 🚨
