Political resistance is about to get a serious Bay Area upgrade this May Day.
With over 900 nationwide demonstrations planned, local activists are gearing up to send a crystal clear message to the Trump administration: we’re not backing down. The May Day Strong coalition, comprised of more than 160 grassroots organizations, is orchestrating protests that will blanket the Bay Area from San Jose to Santa Rosa.
A Movement Takes Shape
Since Trump’s inauguration, weekly protests have become the new normal. From “Hands Off!” rallies drawing thousands to demonstrations at Social Security Administration offices, Bay Area residents have consistently shown their commitment to pushing back against policies that threaten progressive values.
Power to the People
The coalition’s battle cry is unambiguous: “Trump and his billionaire profiteers are trying to create a race to the bottom , on wages, on benefits, on dignity itself”. They’re demanding a fundamental reimagining of societal priorities, placing families, public schools, and healthcare above corporate profits.
Coast to Coast Resistance
With over 50 protests scheduled across the Bay Area - including stops in Berkeley, San Francisco, San Jose, and beyond - this May Day promises to be a powerful display of organized resistance. Activists are transforming public spaces into platforms for demanding systemic change, proving that grassroots organizing remains a potent political force.
More details about these nationwide actions can be found on the May Day National Day of Action website.
