SAN FRANCISCO – Recently, the Warriors took a delightful stroll down memory lane, celebrating ten years of their glorious 2015 championship team. Yes, the same franchise that went from cellar dwellers to the toast of the NBA town faster than you can say ‘overpriced avocado toast’.

In a league where mediocrity often reigns supreme, the Warriors have etched their name as the most decorated team across major American sports. At the Chase Center, the spotlight was on nostalgia as they honored their roots amidst applause and cheers.

With three of the 2014-15 team’s stars , Festus Ezeli, Brandon Rush, and Marreese Speights , gracing the podium, it was a reminder of how a sprinkling of talent, charm, and a little bit of good coaching ended a four-decade long championship drought. Yes, that’s right, four decades!

The Warriors kicked off the season with a personality you couldn’t miss; the kind that could fill a room brighter than the lights in their Chase Center arena. Their first championship win against the Cleveland Cavaliers led to an explosion of basketball love, and as Rush recalled, “My first year here … was a struggle”. Let’s just say, it was rough. But once Stephen Curry found his groove, it was game on.

Coach Steve Kerr swooped in like a superhero, turning a team steeped in chaos into a dynasty of ball-movement perfection. “Everything was just 1-on-1, beat-your-man type of basketball,” Rush said about predecessor Mark Jackson’s coaching style, which made way for Kerr’s fluid approach that had fans chanting “STAY COOOOOOL ALL DAY!”

Ezeli, voicing his gratitude, reminisced about the confidence Kerr instilled in them, stating, “If you guys move the ball and play together […] we’re going to get somewhere”. And boy, did they ever: an NBA championship, MVPs, and a legacy that someday might grace the pages of your grandkids’ history books (if they even bother to read!).

Those years of mediocrity before this championship reign? They seem like a distant memory, much like paying rent in San Francisco. Today, the Warriors have solidified their status amid rising controversies and excitement both on and off the court. So here’s to 10 years of Warriors basketball that turned us into die-hard fans and left us hoping for more magic next season.
