Bernie Sanders Is Throwing Major Shade at AI Startups and We're Here for It

Bernie Sanders, Rally at Pittsburgh University, Sunday April 14.

Senator Bernie Sanders is once again proving he’s the ultimate tech industry watchdog, calling out two San Francisco startups for their potentially dystopian AI innovations.

In a recent interview that’s sending shockwaves through Silicon Valley, Sanders didn’t hold back his criticism of AI companies that seem more interested in replacing human connections than improving society.

The AI Companions Controversy

First up on Sanders’ chopping block is Friend, an AI pendant startup plastering billboards across major cities with promises of digital companionship. Sanders warned about the potential psychological impact of these “AI buddies” in a world already struggling with emotional disconnection.

Automation Nation

Artisan, another San Francisco startup, is pushing boundaries with billboards that brazenly declare “Stop Hiring Humans” and promise an “Era of AI Employees”. Sanders pointedly questioned how displaced workers would survive in this brave new world of algorithmic employment.

The Bigger Picture

While tech bros might be celebrating these innovations, Sanders is raising critical questions about worker displacement, human connection, and the unchecked power of AI companies. His nationwide “Fighting Oligarchy” tour continues to challenge the tech industry’s potentially harmful trajectories.

Let’s be real: when Bernie Sanders calls out tech startups, you know something’s seriously wrong with our current innovation landscape.
