Bay Area Badasses Are Brewing Up a Women's Sports Bar Revolution

Imagine a world where women’s sports get the spotlight they deserve – and where parents can actually enjoy a post-game beverage without wrestling their kids. Two Marin women are making that dream a reality.
Isabella Woods and Soledad Jean-Pierre aren’t just talking about change; they’re crowd-funding it. Their brainchild, “The Twelfth,” aims to become Marin County’s first women’s sports bar, challenging the frustratingly male-dominated sports bar landscape.
Breaking the Sports Bar Mold
Woods and Jean-Pierre, who’ve been friends and soccer teammates for a decade, are tired of spaces that treat women’s sports like an afterthought. “We kept running into unwelcoming spaces that would barely turn on women’s games,” Woods explained. Their solution? A kid-friendly venue that celebrates women athletes and gives families a cool hangout spot.
More Than Just a Bar
With only 10 women’s sports bars in the entire country, The Twelfth is part of a growing movement. Their timing couldn’t be more perfect – the 2023 Women’s World Cup drew a staggering 2 billion viewers worldwide, proving that women’s sports aren’t just a niche market.
Funding a Revolution
Instead of seeking traditional investors, Woods and Jean-Pierre are crowd-funding $425,000 to maintain full ownership. “It’s about investing in the future you want to see,” Woods said. And that future looks fierce, feminist, and fun.
Stay tuned, Bay Area – this isn’t just a sports bar, it’s a statement.
