San Francisco’s botanical world is about to get wild, and we mean really wild. The Conservatory of Flowers is preparing for another epic bloom of the infamous “Corpse Flower,” a plant so legendarily stinky it’ll make your worst Uber Pool experience seem like a fragrant garden party.

The Stench Heard 'Round Golden Gate Park

Meet “Chanel,” the Titan Arum that’s about to unleash a smell so potent it’ll make your nostrils question their life choices. This botanical diva is expected to bloom within a week, and when she does, she’ll produce a stench comparable to rotting flesh - because why be subtle?

A Rare and Rank Performance

These blooms are no joke for plant nerds. Younger Corpse Flowers only bloom every seven to ten years, while the more mature ones get a bit more generous, popping off every three to five years. San Francisco, being the overachiever it is, has six of these stink machines between the Conservatory of Flowers and the California Academy of Sciences.

How to Catch This Olfactory Nightmare

Want to witness this botanical horror show? The Conservatory has you covered with a livestream. Pro tip: SF residents get free tickets, while out-of-towners will shell out $15.75 to experience nature’s most gloriously grotesque moment. Whether you watch online or brave the in-person experience, one thing’s certain - this flower is about to make some serious botanical noise.
