San Jose is about to turn up for Cinco de Mayo, and trust us, it’s not your average weekend celebration.

With May 5th landing on a Monday this year, the city’s festivities are sprawling across the entire weekend, giving party enthusiasts and culture lovers plenty of reasons to get excited. The United Lowrider Council of San Jose is taking the lead, transforming city streets into a vibrant cultural playground.

Lowriders and Legendary Rides

For car enthusiasts and cultural connoisseurs, the epic lowrider car and truck show in front of SAP Center is absolutely unmissable. Imagine custom vehicles gleaming under the California sun, entertainment blasting, and West Santa Clara Street transformed into a mobile art exhibition. Pro tip: Plan your route carefully since street closures are in effect.

Parade and Cultural Celebration

On May 4th, King Road becomes a river of culture with a parade stretching from Alum Rock Avenue to Story Road. Following the parade, Emma Prusch Farm Park will host a festival featuring live music, traditional dance, and - you guessed it - more stunning lowriders. Downtown San Jose isn’t sitting this out either, with a free festival at Plaza de Cesar Chavez promising food trucks, live performances, and community vibes.

Beyond the Celebration

What makes this weekend special isn’t just the events, but the profound celebration of Latinx culture and community resilience. It’s more than a party - it’s a statement of pride, history, and collective joy.

So grab your friends, deck out in festive attire, and get ready to experience San Jose’s most colorful weekend of the year. Viva Cinco de Mayo! 🇲🇽🎊
