Trump's Wild Plan: Turning Alcatraz into a Super-Prison Will Make Your Jaw Drop

So, apparently former President Donald Trump thinks San Francisco Bay needs some extra “law and order” spice – and his secret ingredient is reopening the legendary Alcatraz prison. In a typical Trump-style social media blast, he’s proposing to transform the famous tourist attraction back into a hardcore detention facility “for America’s most ruthless and violent offenders”.

A Blast from the Past

Remember “The Rock”? That infamous island prison that once housed legendary criminals like Al Capone? Well, Trump wants to resurrect it from its tourism afterlife. Currently, Alcatraz welcomes over a million visitors annually, generating significant revenue and jobs. But who needs that when you can have a dramatic prison remake?

The Not-So-Practical Plan

Here’s the kicker: Alcatraz was originally shut down in 1963 because it was ridiculously expensive to maintain. We’re talking nearly three times the cost of a regular federal prison, mainly because everything – including a million gallons of water weekly – had to be shipped by boat. State Senator Scott Wiener perfectly captured the absurdity, calling it a potential “domestic gulag right in the middle of San Francisco Bay”.

The Reality Check

While Trump paints this as a “symbol of Law, Order, and JUSTICE,” most Bay Area residents are likely rolling their eyes. The proposal seems more like another attention-grabbing headline than a serious policy suggestion. Alcatraz has transformed from a maximum-security prison to a powerful historical landmark – and most people prefer it that way.

Trump might want to rewind the clock, but San Francisco is all about moving forward, not backward.
