Basketball debates are the ultimate time machine for sports nerds, and NBA legend Scottie Pippen just cranked up the heat on Steph Curry’s legacy. In a recent interview with MARCA, Pippen dropped a spicy take that basically suggests Curry wouldn’t survive the rough-and-tumble basketball era of the 1990s.

The 90s vs. Modern Basketball Smackdown

Pippen’s hot take? The rules of the 90s would completely transform Curry’s game. “If we played in his era, it would be like playing freely: no one holds you, no one stops you,” he claimed. Translation: Today’s basketball is basically a pillow fight compared to the gladiator arena of 90s hoops.

Numbers Don’t Lie (But Legends Talk)

While Pippen admits the Warriors might win due to their shooting prowess, he’s quick to emphasize the physicality of 90s basketball. “We weren’t built to shoot 25-50 3-pointers per game,” he declared. “We played physical. We defended hard. We made teams score only 75-80 points”.

The Ultimate Comparison

Despite the trash talk, the stats tell an interesting story. Curry averaged 25.3 points in 2016-17, while Michael Jordan was dropping 30.4 points in 1995-96. But let’s be real - comparing eras is like comparing avocado toast to a TV dinner: interesting, but ultimately futile.

One thing’s certain: Scottie Pippen just ensured basketball fans will be arguing about this for decades to come.
