In the wild world of sports superstitions, Texas Senator Ted Cruz might just be the ultimate playoff kryptonite. Fans are once again pleading with the polarizing politician to keep his game-day presence to a minimum after a string of devastating losses that seem to follow him like an awkward shadow.

The Curse of Cruz

Houston Rockets fans are on high alert as the NBA playoffs kick into gear, desperately hoping Cruz will NOT show up to their matchup against the Golden State Warriors. And they’ve got receipts. From the Houston Cougars’ March Madness heartbreak to the Texas Longhorns’ football fumble, Cruz’s attendance has become a running joke in the sports world.

Sports Fans vs. The Senator

One Reddit user summed it up perfectly: “He has every right to root for whoever he wants to, but his presence at stadiums or arenas has become problematic”. The so-called “Cruz Curse” has become such a phenomenon that fans are now actively campaigning to keep him away from their games.

A Playoff Predictor?

Even the Warriors have history with this bizarre sports jinx. Back in 2018, Cruz was present during a decisive Game 7 where the Warriors beat the Rockets in the Western Conference Finals. Coincidence? Sports fans definitely don’t think so.

Whether it’s a cosmic joke or just incredibly bad luck, one thing’s for certain: Ted Cruz might want to consider watching games from the comfort of his living room if Texas teams want any hope of victory.
