SAN FRANCISCO – Just three games into the home stretch of the 2024-25 NBA regular season, the Warriors are indeed strutting their stuff, but with that classic Bay Area humility we’ve come to love.

After stumbling through a confusing 12-3 start followed by a cringe-worthy 13-23 slump, they’ve now bounced back with three consecutive wins, including a thumping 128-92 beatdown of the lottery-bound Charlotte Hornets.

Buddy Hield could teach a masterclass in keeping grounded, reminding us all, “We haven’t done anything yet”. Is it just us, or does he sound like a motivational poster designed for an Instagram influencer?

On a winning spree since the arrival of Jimmy Butler III, the Warriors flexed back with a stellar 6-1 record, rocketing from tenth to eighth place in the Western Conference. That’s what we call a bounce-back season!

But while they’re savoring those sweet victories and flaunting some much-needed confidence, the Warriors are keeping it real. “To do what we want to do, I know we still got a long way to go,” said Draymond Green. Let this be a reminder that even stars know to avoid getting too comfy in their glittery spots, especially in the unpredictable world of the NBA.

Head coach Steve Kerr echoed the need for humility, stating, “We’re fighting to try to get into the playoffs”. As reality checks go, that one hits hard. Just two weeks ago, the team was in the ten spot, with no playoff guarantee in sight, now they’ve set their sights on the coveted sixth position. Ambition is great, but overconfidence is a slippery slope.

Hield reminds us of the ultimate goal: winning a championship. He states, “Every day is humbling. Winning is great, but we all know our mission is to keep winning until we can hold that trophy at the end”. Enough said.

As they embark on a five-game road trip soon, the Warriors hope to maintain their thriving momentum. With their catchy tagline, “We’ve got bigger goals, bigger fish to fry,” they’re clearly in it to win it. Butler is revving up the team spirit, excitedly stating, “I don’t see why we can’t win every game”.

So as they gear up for a road test, the Warriors might just keep their feet on the ground even while trying to reach for the stars. Time to bring that trophy home, lads. Don’t let that shiny new player inflame egos too much.

– That’s your dose of basketball reality, straight from the heart of San Francisco. Bring on the playoffs!
