Well, well, well… just when you thought the Theranos saga couldn’t get any more bizarre, enter Billy Evans, Elizabeth Holmes’s partner and baby daddy, ready to stir up another Silicon Valley storm.

Blood Testing Round Two?

Imagine having a front-row seat to one of the most spectacular tech frauds in recent history and thinking, “Yeah, I’m gonna try that again”. That’s basically the vibe of Evans’s new startup, Haemanthus, which is aiming to revolutionize - you guessed it - blood testing.

The Audacity of Tech Bros

Tech experts are side-eyeing this venture harder than a venture capitalist evaluating a pitch deck. Tim Bajarin from Creative Strategies Inc. basically called it a carbon copy of the Theranos playbook - promising groundbreaking medical diagnostics first in veterinary medicine, with potential human applications. Sound familiar?

A Familiar Tune

Let’s recap: Holmes was convicted of defrauding investors and patients, sentenced to over 11 years in prison, and ordered to repay $450 million. And now her partner wants to launch another blood-testing startup? Industry veterans like Kym McNicholas are not here for this potential tech nepotism, emphasizing that “millions of lives are at stake” with medical technology.

With Holmes’s last hope for a new trial crushed by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, it seems the tech world is watching Evans’s Haemanthus with a mixture of skepticism, fascination, and “did they really just do that?” energy.
