Drag Queen's Mysterious Death Sparks Global Outrage: SF vs London Showdown!

Rainbow pride flag against blue sky with clouds.

The LGBTQ+ community is not here to play games, and they’re making that crystal clear in the wake of drag legend Heklina’s suspicious death in London.

A Tragic Loss, A Brewing Storm

When beloved San Francisco drag icon Heklina was found dead in a London flat in 2023, something smelled fishier than a drag queen’s wig after Pride weekend. Her longtime friend and collaborator, Peaches Christ, isn’t letting this go down without a fight.

Justice Takes Center Stage

On Monday, March 31st, San Francisco is staging a protest that’s part vigil, part drag revolution. Starting at The Stud and marching up Folsom Street, queer activists are demanding answers about Heklina’s death and calling out the London Metropolitan Police’s apparent investigative negligence. With two “angry drag shows” planned and performances by local drag royalty, this isn’t just a protest – it’s a statement.

Beyond One Case

This isn’t just about Heklina. It’s a broader fight against institutionalized homophobia and transphobia. Protesters are bringing signs that challenge both the London police’s handling of LGBTQ+ cases and the ongoing political attacks on queer communities. As Peaches Christ bluntly put it: they’ve been “mistreated, mishandled, ignored” for far too long.
