San Francisco just said “sashay away” to its first-ever Drag Laureate, D’Arcy Drollinger, closing an epic two-year reign that redefined civic representation with sass and sequins.

A Legacy of Queer Joy

Drollinger, who transformed the role from a bureaucratic title to a vibrant celebration of LGBTQIA+ culture, leaves behind sparkly shoes that won’t be easy to fill. During her tenure, she launched “San Francisco is a Drag” - a public performance program that turned city streets into impromptu runways and brought queer visibility to new heights.

The Crown Awaits

The coveted position is now open, with applications already closed (sorry, late bloomers). The next Drag Laureate will pocket a cool $105,000 over three years, with duties ranging from first pitches at Giants games to Pride stage emceeing. No budget for wigs, though - that’s on you, darling.

What’s Next?

While the city keeps us in suspense about the next royal drag ruler, one thing’s certain: San Francisco continues to lead with radical inclusivity, proving once again why it’s the queer capital of the universe. Stay tuned for Pride Month, when the next glitter-coated civic champion will likely be crowned.

Until then, keep your heels high and your spirits higher!
