Queer Lasers Are About to Turn SF Pride Into a Glittery, Mega Rad Light Show

Get ready, Bay Area queers and allies – San Francisco is about to transform Market Street into the most epic Pride light spectacular you’ve ever seen. 🌈✨
Rainbow Lasers are Making a Triumphant Return
Illuminate, the nonprofit magic makers behind the Bay Bridge’s stunning light installation, are bringing back their legendary “world’s largest Pride flag” – a dazzling array of rainbow lasers that will slice through San Francisco’s legendary fog like a fabulous light saber. Starting Friday evening, these laser cannons will blast brilliant queer energy across the cityscape, turning Market Street into a luminous celebration of LGBTQ+ pride.
More Than Just Pretty Lights
This isn’t just about looking gorgeous (though, let’s be real, it totally is). The installation, called WelcomeSF, is designed to create an immersive experience where party-goers can literally feel the laser beams passing overhead. Alongside the lasers, the event will feature a Pride-themed outdoor party on Front Street, aptly named “Drag Me to Front Street,” featuring performances by local queer talent.
A Celebration of Community and Visibility
The laser show will run from sunset to sunrise through the weekend, with start times varying each night. Illuminate is still crowdfunding support for the project, having raised just over $17,000 of their $50,000 goal. So if you want to support this radical display of queer joy, consider throwing a few dollars their way.
Pride isn’t just a parade – it’s a powerful statement of love, resilience, and unapologetic self-expression. And what better way to make that statement than with massive, sky-piercing rainbow lasers? 🏳️🌈
