In a night that will forever echo through NBA history, Nikola Jokic did the unthinkable. The Denver Nuggets’ big man just casually tossed aside the record books, making history with the league’s first-ever 30-20-20 triple-double in an overtime showdown against the Phoenix Suns, which culminated in a 149-141 win on Friday night. I mean, just another day at the office for this three-time MVP, right?

Jokic dropped a cool 31 points, collected 21 rebounds, and dished out a jaw-dropping 22 assists, all while looking like he was simply scrolling through social media afterward. Calmly sitting in front of his locker, he gave off the vibe of someone who just aced a test without studying. When asked about his remarkable feat, Jokic nonchalantly replied, “It’s not supposed to go that way… just seemed like everyone was in flow”. It must be nice to be this unfazed while playing a child’s game that pays millions.

The 30-year-old Serbian sensation has tied his franchise record with 29 triple-doubles this season alone. With 19 games still on the docket, he’s averaging a staggering triple-double: 28.9 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 10.6 assists. Denver coach Michael Malone even went as far as to dub him “one of one,” confirming that Jokic is not just great, he’s a class act all by himself.

In typical Jokic fashion, his standout performance wasn’t just about the numbers. After blowing a 21-point lead, his explosive start to overtime lifted the Nuggets out of the pit. In less than a minute, he helped turn the tide with five points, five assists, and three rebounds. Just imagine if we all could solve our problems by doing math and throwing basketballs!

Jokic made history once again by surpassing his previous assist high of 19, achieved just two weeks prior. Remarkably, this was also the seventh time this season he logged at least 15 points, 15 rebounds, and 15 assists, tying a record set by none other than the NBA legend himself, Oscar Robertson.

While he has his eyes on the prize this season, Jokic graciously brushed aside any talk of breaking Scott Skiles’ record of 30 assists, saying, “I have different problems than that right now”. What a refreshing reminder that amidst all the hustle and stress, Jokic can still keep it real, and for that, we salute him. This stellar showing should inspire us all to at least try to achieve greatness… but maybe without the 45 minutes of running around.
