Elon Musk has brought us yet another thrilling episode of Entrepreneur Conspiracy Theater. On Monday, he proclaimed that X, yeah, that app known as Twitter to the rest of the world, was struck by a staggering cyberattack that caused the site to crash for a good chunk of the day. Brace yourselves, folks!

He took to the platform, where else would he go?, claiming, “There was (still is) a massive cyberattack against 𝕏. We get attacked every day, but this was done with a lot of resources. Either a large, coordinated group and/or a country is involved”. Seriously, who needs the plot of Inception when you’ve got Musk spinning tales like this?

Naturally, Elon didn’t bother providing any evidence for this dramatic assertion. But why would he? We’re only talking about the CEO of a tech giant here. Let’s not forget his previous greatest hits, like claiming that an events feature crashed during a live chat with You-know-who in 2024, a narrative later debunked by his own employees.

So, what really happened on X? Users were greeted with downtime multiple times throughout the day, which had everyone questioning their life choices. Imagine tweeting your heart out only to be met with an eternal loading sign. Just a blessing, really. By the afternoon, it seemed normal access was restored, allowing Musk to jump back into his usual routine of conspiracy-laden tweets aimed at his haters.

In a classic turn of events, the drama around X got the internet buzzing, as people speculated whether it was a cyberattack, or just another of Musk’s attention-seeking stunts meticulously crafted to distract us from the actual issues, like income inequality or the rising cost of living in the Bay Area.

All in all, another day, another cyber-drama involving our tech mogul-in-residence. So, what’s next? A reality show based on Musk battling shadowy hackers? Stay tuned. The saga of The Real World: Silicon Valley seems to have it all, drama included.
