Tea App: The Wild West of Digital Dating Drama You Didn't Know You Needed

Dating in the digital age just got a whole lot messier - and potentially safer.
A new app called Tea has exploded onto the scene, giving women a platform to anonymously share their unfiltered experiences with potential romantic partners. With over 4 million users and a rocket-like trajectory to the top of the App Store, this women-only safety app is serving up some seriously spicy content.
The Digital Dating Gossip Mill
Users can upload photos of local men, then rate them as “red” or “green” flags based on their personal experiences. Want to know if that cute guy from Tinder has a sketchy dating history? Tea might just have the tea.
Safety or Cyberbullying?
While the app claims to be about women’s safety - even donating 10% of profits to the National Domestic Violence Hotline - users like Cid Walker are skeptical. “I feel like if people were to use the app how it’s supposed to be used, this could actually save a lot of women from being hurt,” she says. “But at this point, it’s like a joke to everybody and just like cyberbullying”.
The Drama Continues
Men aren’t thrilled about the app, with some online communities calling for its deletion. But for now, Tea continues to brew up controversy and connection in equal measure. Just another day in the wild world of modern dating, folks.
