Navy's Petty Pride Punch: Harvey Milk Gets Canceled During Pride Month

Well, folks, buckle in for another round of conservative cancel culture – but this time, it’s the Navy taking aim at LGBTQ+ history.
Pete Hegseth, Trump’s former Secretary of Defense, is on a mission to strip Harvey Milk’s name from a naval ship, and he’s doing it with all the subtlety of a glitter bomb during Pride Month. Talk about timing.
A Queer History Erased
Harvey Milk, San Francisco’s legendary queer supervisor and one of the first openly gay elected officials in the US, was already discharging from the Navy in the 1950s due to his sexual orientation. Now, decades later, the very institution that once discriminated against him is attempting to erase his legacy.
Political Pettiness on Parade
Hegseth claims this is about “reestablishing warrior culture,” but let’s be real – this looks more like a spiteful political stunt designed to rile up progressive activists. Even Nancy Pelosi called it a “shameful, vindictive erasure” that does nothing to strengthen national security.
Beyond One Ship
Even more concerning, the Navy is reportedly considering renaming ships honoring other civil rights leaders like Thurgood Marshall, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and Cesar Chavez. It’s a disturbing trend of whitewashing historical progress.
In a world where representation matters, this move feels like a giant step backward – proving once again that some people are more committed to erasing history than learning from it.
